raffle

& the winner is … by Suzanne Hoskin

Wow! What a fantastic turnout to my first Noosa Open Studios this year. Around two hundred visitors walked through my home and garden studio. They looked at the mosaics, asked questions about classes, collaborations and commissions, and shared their stories about the works they make, would love to make, or will make.

Visitors where from all over Australia and NZ. It was great to talk with everyone, from the surprised never-seen-anything-like-it-before: ‘how can i do it?’, to mosaic artists sharing their experiences. Noosa Open Studios was definitely a worthwhile event, and if I have time I’d do it again next year! .

Lifting Laura’s spirit
For those who collaborated on the mosaic planter during the Open Studios you’ll know that the proceeds of the raffle for the finished object are to assist Laura Shakespeare with her medical expenses to fight breast cancer.

& the winner is …

As it happens the raffle and much desired prize was won by Louise Jones from Townsville, who happens to be Laura’s mother!

Louise and her husband are traveling around Australia in a van at the moment so the planter has found its temporary home in Laura’s garden where she can contemplate life and healing with a beverage of her choice. Is that fate or chance? Whatever your take on winners and losers it’s a wonderful outcome.

A total of $250 was raised for Laura and her family, and she has the pleasure of a beautiful pot made by many hands. Perfect outcome.
